When you go to one of the 'Spanners gigs, you will hear
a collection of rock music which neatly demonstrates the
honest, unpretentious style which has been honed and
perfected by the Detroit Spanners. Formed in 1992, the
band has evolved into a highly polished and professional
act, that has spent many years performing live across
the north of England.
A wide range of musical styles are brought together by
four very experienced musicians, resulting in a large
and varied repertoire, beginning with songs from the
50’s, right up to the present day.
The band thrives on tight melodious music, with a rare
style of harmony vocals, coupled to a range of songs
from traditional rock and roll to classic new wave tunes.

The main musical influences have come from acts such as:
Nine Below Zero, Greenday, Wilson Picket, The Hamsters,
ZZ Top Dr. Feelgood, and a couple of original numbers.
Unlike many bands, the Detroit Spanners shun those long
improvised solos, in favour of well-structured songs,
with infectious melodies, changes in tempo, and a wide
dynamic range.
Although the Bands PA system has enough grunt for even
the largest clubs, sound levels are kept to a suitable
volume for the venue, and clientele.
In short, the Detroit Spanners are a band brimming with
maturity, which perform a musical tapestry, with
something to satisfy all tastes in rock music.
